Marie & Jim Mcdowel
"Moose Horn Trading Post"
Picture taken by Eileen Reid
1946 Jim McDowell and his wife, Marie, put up a log structure, nailed up a set of moose horns and christened their place Moosehorn.
Moosehorn became a popular meeting place and Marie was an early postmaster.
Its name lives on at a building which now serves as a school bus lot and garage.
I personally remember Mom, (Eileen Reid) getting Jim to come up to our house with his Wrecker Truck and loud air horn to chase a unwelcome Moose out of our yard during winter snows. Again... Moosehorn was a great name for the McDowell's. He chased Moose out of our yard many times.
